Meaning

The command shape is valid, but the current user mode is too low for the requested write operation.

Typical causes

Trying to change a protected setting before selecting the required user mode; running save or reset without advanced mode.

Select the required user mode, then retry the write. For normal read/write commands, validation is performed in this order:

  1. No arguments: read the current value.
  2. Wrong argument count or malformed values: CMD_INVALID_ARG.
  3. Valid write shape but user mode too low: CMD_ACCESS_DENIED.
  4. Valid write shape and sufficient user mode: apply the write.

save and reset are no-argument write commands and require advanced mode.

See User modes for user-mode operation. save and reset require advanced mode.
