Install Ubuntu virtual machine on Windows using Virtual Box

Prerequisites

  1. Install Oracle VM VirtualBox for Windows hosts.
  2. Download Ubuntu Desktop.

Steps

  1. Create a virtual machine

    Click on New to create a virtual machine.

    Choose a name for the virtual machine (ubuntu), select type Linux and version Ubuntu (64-bit).

    For the following steps, use at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of disk space if possible.

  2. Install Ubuntu on the virtual machine

    On Virtual Box interface, select the created virtual machine (ubuntu here) and click on Start.

    At start-up, select the Ubuntu Desktop file and click on Start.

    Click on Install Ubuntu.

    Select Download updates while installing Ubuntu and click on Continue.

    Select Erase disk and install Ubuntu and click on Install Now.
