Are the interlock inputs 5 V tolerant?

Last updated: 2026-10-15

The interlock inputs on the following controllers use 3.3 V logic. Do not drive these inputs directly with 5 V. The 5 V tolerance specified for the UART interface does not apply to the interlock inputs.

Interlock pinControllers
INTDRV700, TEC200, HTC200
LCKDRV800, CTL20, CTL200, CTL200-0, CTL300E, CTL300P

We recommend using an optocoupler to interface an external control signal. Connect its output transistor between the interlock input and the controller's GND, keeping the interlock's high level at 3.3 V. The external signal drives the optocoupler LED through an appropriate current-limiting resistor instead of driving the interlock pin directly.

See the CTL200 interlock connection diagram for an example.

Interlock activation and reset behavior depend on the controller. Refer to the DRV700, DRV800, TEC200, HTC200, CTL20, CTL200 / CTL200-0, CTL300E or CTL300P user guide.
